List: Seven Last Words of Christ

The seven last words of Christ were the utterances Jesus made while he was hanging on the cross. Those utterances had a profound influence on human morality and history.

  • “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:33-34)
  • “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43)
  • To Mary: “Woman, behold thy son!” To John the Disciple, “Behold thy mother!” (John 19:26-27)
  • “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)
  • “I thirst.” (John 19:28)
  • “It is finished.” (John 19:29-30)
  • “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” (Luke 23:46)
