In this article, the main parts of first day covers (FDC) are enlarged, and they are given a prominent space on the two web pages. The main part of a first day cover refers to the area where the stamp, set of stamps or souvenir sheet is affixed on an FDC and cancelled with the first day of issue cancellation.
The purpose for this kind of display is to give the reasons why this part of the first day cover is used for competitive philatelic exhibition. One reason is the aesthetic beauty found on the stamps. Another reason is the precise illustration found in the first day of issue cancellation. Third, the drawings on the stamps and the illustrations and information contained in the cancellation show the reason why they are being released or issued. There is no space or extremely little space for anything irrelevant or unrelated that can be added. Even if it is successfully added, it will be ignored or go unnoticed and, therefore, it becomes “doubly irrelevant.”
