Christ Teachings: God's Words
This article deals with the words of God or the Bible. It contains faith expression artworks based on what Jesus said about his words. Verse 31 in chapter 13 in the gospel of Mark tells us what Jesus said and I quote: “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” (KJV 2021)
In the gospels, there are, at least – maybe – three characters who recognized, consciously or instinctively, that the words of Jesus are everlasting. One is Peter, the leader of the apostles, who said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we [11 apostles] believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:68-69) The second is the writer of the gospel of John whose gospel appears to show strongly that the writer was able to gaze intently and powerfully into the mystery of the eternal Word. The third character is Mary, the sister of Martha. She seems to possess that womanly instinct of recognizing something terribly good in a person. Here’s her story and I quote:
“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42 / KJV 2021 / Underscoring supplied)
