This is the Christmas issue of “Expressions Art for God’s Sake, and its title is “Expressions Art for God’s Sake: Finding Love on Christmas.” Christmas is the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and it is celebrated, joyously, around the world.
The faith expression artworks on display are based, mainly, on Bible verses Luke 2:8-11. In the NRSVACE translation, the verses go this way: “In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord.’” In the NIVUK translation, the same verses are translated in this manner: “And there were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’”
Sometimes, these gospel verses are combined with other Bible verses in the making of some of the faith expression artworks. These other Bible verses are placed near the artworks that were made using these Bible verses.
