Mike Pompeo worked as an editor of Harvard Law Review and as a small business owner for nearly a decade before he entered the world of public service. As a lawmaker, he was the main sponsor of the Small Airplane Revitalization Act and the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act.
He was the recipient of the “Kansan of the Year” award in 2019. He was the Kansan who occupied the highest-ranking government position since President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and he was the first Kansan to be appointed as US Secretary of State.
As Secretary of State, Mr. Pompeo organized the first-ever State Department Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. He was the US official who implemented the Abraham Accords, a peace agreement that normalized the relationship between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco. For his work in fighting for religious freedom for all and anti-Semitism, he was awarded the “Global Leadership Award” by the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement (CAM).
