Still Hopeful in spite of Delta

2021…. The month of August is about to end. Tomorrow is September 1 and the fourth quarter of the year is just around the corner. With people getting vaccinated and with more and more people wanting to get vaccinated, things are supposed to get better in the Philippines by Christmas time. But there are more people now getting infected with the coronavirus-19, the Delta variant.

Occasionally, you do not want to look at the news headlines, but that’s not the way it should be. We should read the news, however awful: lockdowns and curfews and a shrinking economy, lack of freedom of movement and a sense of boredom, overwhelmed health workers and hospitals struggling to cope with a greater number of sick people, people losing jobs and people dying. The list goes on. But I am still very hopeful that things will get better by the end of the year. Get yourself vaccinated, follow health protocols, cheer the government to further ramped up its vaccination efforts, especially for the elderly and people with comorbidities. And pray and pray hard. Pray for mercy and forgiveness.
