A Great Battle Somewhere in Time

I’d like to share something with you, the readers. It has something to do with the battle of angels in heaven which the writer of the book of Revelation saw in a vision.

I had been reading the Bible intently, and I came across these verses about several weeks ago: 1 Peter 1:8-12 and Revelation 12:1-10. I read them over and over again, and they seemed to be related. In 1 Peter, I was struck by the phrase “which things the angels desire to look into.” What were the things which the angels desired to look into? I suspected that these were matters concerning the salvation of our souls through Christ Jesus.

A few weeks after reading the first letter of Peter, I read the book of Revelation. My attention was caught (as in many verses of the Revelation) by the first ten verses of chapter twelve. These verses were part of the writer’s vision, and they described a woman clothe with the sun who gave birth to a child and a red dragon who wanted to devour the newly-born child. The child was taken by God, and there was a battle of angels: God’s Michael and angels versus Satan (the Dragon) and his angels. Satan and his army lost and they were thrown out of heaven, forever. Salvation through God’s Christ was achieved.

Here are the verses which interested me so much. I’d like you to read it. Some verses have been emphasized or underscored. Then, you can decide when did the battle of angels in heaven happen? After the verses, you'll find my speculation or suspicion about the time when the battle occurred.

  • “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him [Jesus Christ] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8-9 / KJV 2021)
  • Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.” (1 Peter 1:10-12 / KJV 2021)
  • “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.” (Revelation 12:1-5 / KJV 2021)
  • “And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” (Revelation 12:6-10 / KJV 2021)

Do the verses make sense to you? They do to me, and I suspect the battle of the angels took place before the universe or the world was created. Satan and his angels are simply a bunch of losers even before the universe or the world was created, and they are poor losers who always entice us – human beings – with their evil ways to join them in hell. And this sharing from Satan and his army I reject completely, and believers in Christ must do the same.

PS: I have some more ideas about the verses I have shared. Right now, I am quite excited, and I find it difficult to collect all the ideas in my mind and put them down in writing.

In addition, I highly recommend to the readers to consult your religious or spiritual advisers about these verses.
