This article provides a list of Bible verses about the story of creation. These Bible verses – written thousands of years ago – represent one of the earliest attempts of man to explain the unexplainable using faith, literature and observation of what were during the time they were written. The first chapter of the book of Genesis explains how the universe, the earth, the things found on earth and humans were created in six days. The first 8 verses of chapter one shows how the universe was formed and how light was created with a simple utterance by God, how God separated light and darkness to create morning and evening, and how the sky was formed with a simple command by God. This part of the story of creation of the universe does not seem or “does not sound” to differ much from the “big bang” theory, a scientific theory which came about less than a century ago.

* The next, succeeding verses of chapter one provides an account of how humans and other things were formed. This part of the story appears to be at odds with a body of modern-day scientific evidence that tends to contradict, strongly, the Biblical story of creation. The contradiction may be one involving the use of a few words and numbers. It is worth mentioning that in the Bible story, the order by which things appeared follows the way by which they could have appeared in a scientific manner. It is worth noting, too,  that in the next, succeeding verses, the creation of animals came on the fifth and sixth day and the creation of humans came on the sixth day,  and humans were differentiated from animals not in terms of physical characteristic but in terms of behavioral trait, mental capability and spiritual characteristic. In addition, there is a sufficiently large number of scientific and archaeological findings that lend support to many of the Bible stories which were previously considered impossible or implausible to have happened or existed. And there are many phenomena which do or did exist that experts in the fields of science, medicine and technology have yet to find some plausible explanations but which can be explained using faith.

The Bible Story of Creation

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ’Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ’day,’ and the darkness he called ’night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning – the first day.”
